Quick update relating to this previous post regarding my main man Lupe Fiasco and his album L.A.S.E.R.S. Well, Lupe dropped that album just under two weeks ago, and needless to say, it’s got some serious fire on it. Catchy hooks paired with ridiculous lyricism always equates to success, and unfortunately Lupe’s label, Atlantic Records, seems to be benefiting the most from this amazing album.
Having shelved the album for months, Atlantic appeared to have ultimately killed the project until Lupe’s fans (myself included) gathered up a petition to help garner support for the albums release. Now that it has been released, the album’s been sitting at the top spot on both ITunes and Billboard (as of 3/21) for this past week. Congrats to LupeNation for getting this one done, and remembering to follow through by actually buying the album and supporting the artist. Even though Atlantic is the party that benefits the most from this success, hopefully this whole FIASCO will open up record labels’ eyes to the power of the people as well as true artists.
Maybe this will help convince Def Jam to let that Lost Tapes 2 joint see the light of day. Doubtful, but this one’s definitely a win for the fans and the artists all over the world.
Heres one of my favorites from L.A.S.E.R.S.: (don’t click any bullshit links in the video)
